Lee Celebrates 125 Years

Thursday, 28 August 2014

A lesson in staying young, 125 years on.

You learn a lot in 125 years. Just ask Henry David Lee.

The man who started a fine food business in 1889 in Kansas, feeding the backbone of

America- the workers of the west- cowboys, ranch hands, farmers and cattle drivers, railroad

men and factory crews. To Lee, it simply made sense to dress them, too. So in 1911, he did just that: overalls, worker

jackets, and jeans.

Sure, we’re a long way from home, Toto. But there’s no place like Australia, and since landing

on these shores in 1973, Lee has worn a favorable impression on not just your heart, but your

sleeves and your arse, too. We’ve been through a lot together, partied too hard and sometimes not hard enough. We’ve

made it from dusk to dawn to dusk again- the best parties beginning once everyone has left.

So to celebrate getting older, and younger at heart, all at once, we decided to throw a small

party, which in turn became our campaign.

Lessons in life. Lessons in Lee.

Enter analogue film photographer, Cara Stricker, models Megan Irwin and Isaac Carew,

Stylist Britt Mccamey, makeup artist Max Made, and a random cat named Oscar.

The result? A story that unfolded without any prompting - moments that couldn’t be edited.

Whether it’s a night or a lifetime lived in Lee, one thing is for sure: you’ll make memoriesmany

you’ll swear that you’ve learnt your lesson from, only to repeat again.

But hey, that’s the best part.

Let the celebration begin.
